How do you balance spontaneity and structure in your creative process?
“Spontaneity and structure are intertwined in my process, and their balance often depends on the work itself. In *Comet Tail*, for example, spontaneity was key in capturing the dynamic flow of astrological symbolism and movement, while structure came through meticulous research and the layering of historical and personal narratives. I began with a clear conceptual framework, but allowed chance discoveries—unexpected juxtapositions or material behaviors—to guide the visual and emotional tone of the work. This balance ensures the final piece is both intentional and open to interpretation.”

Where do you see your work heading in the future, and what are you excited to explore next?
“I am currently exploring the philosophical expression of symbolism within feminist frameworks. Specifically, I am investigating how symbols—whether in graphic forms, gestures, or movements—interact with specific spaces and contexts to convey layered meanings. My focus lies in how symbolic repetition within spatial environments can critique and reframe narratives of female identity. This direction excites me as it offers a way to further connect the emotional and intellectual dimensions of my work, while opening up new possibilities for interpreting identity and space.”

Auto-ethnography is a unique research method in art. Can you explain how it informs your creative process, and how do you balance the personal with the universal in your work?
“Auto-ethnography is both a tool and a mirror in my work, helping me turn individual stories into something that others can connect with. It lets me explore my own narrative and, from there, connect it with broader social and cultural structures. In my ‘Traces’ series, for instance, I combine personal items and stories to explore the relationship between self and environment in a way that resonates on a more universal level. Auto-ethnography allows me to dive deeply into personal stories while reaching out to universal themes that others can relate to. This balance is essential in creating a space where individual experience and collective understanding can coexist.”

In your artist statement, you mention the "subtle connections between our inner worlds and the spaces we inhabit." Could you elaborate on how you visualize or interpret these connections through your multimedia approach?
“To me, the relationship between our inner worlds and the spaces around us is layered and interconnected. Merleau-Ponty’s idea of “lived space” influenced this perspective, and in my work, I use multimedia to bring out these connections. For instance, in ‘The Tent’, the piece is both a reflection of my life in London and an extension of my personal, private space. I use symbolic imagery within a digital bedroom to build an otherworldly space made of memories and emotions—a surreal blend of intimacy and foreignness....”

What is an artist’s role in society and how do you see that evolving?
“I’d say an artist’s role is to provide the public with subtle perspectives, bringing forth different viewpoints and thoughts. This collective thinking can drive society toward positive progress. Especially today, with the rise of artificial intelligence, I believe that the thoughts and messages conveyed in art are even more crucial for the artist's role. Nowadays, especially in contemporary art, traditional techniques are no longer the focus. Interdisciplinary thinking, communication, and breakthroughs have opened up more opportunities for today’s artists.”

How would you describe your work?
“I’d say my work is thoughtful, like a monument that carves the present into time. My pieces are always progressing and evolving, just as I grow through the thoughts and experiences within them. As a kid, my diaries served as those monuments, and now my work has replaced them, capturing my emotional experiences, mental breakdowns, research processes, and debates.”
