Iris Lingyu Zhang

Iris Lingyu Zhang (b. 1997, Beijing) is a multi-media artist and researcher working between London and Beijing. A graduate of the Royal College of Art, Iris’s work delves into themes of body, space, and desire, with a particular focus on feminist narratives. Her emotionally charged, immersive installations blend digital art with multimedia forms, drawing from psychology, philosophy, and auto-ethnography to examine identity, cultural boundaries, and the tension between individual and collective experiences.

With a BA in Advertising from Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, Iris integrates her understanding of visual communication into her artistic practice, crafting compelling narratives that engage audiences on intellectual and emotional levels. She has exhibited internationally, with works shown at venues such as Hundred Years Gallery and IKLECTIK in London. Iris’s art challenges conventional perceptions of introspection, spatiality, and existence, inviting viewers to question their relationships with their environments and themselves. Her practice is marked by a persistent exploration of identity’s fluidity and its interaction with the spaces we inhabit.
My work explores the intricate relationship between body and space, blending psychology, philosophy, and auto-ethnographic research. Through emotional, multi-media creations, I examine the subtle ties between inner experiences and external environments. Using diverse mediums, I craft immersive works that encourage introspection and challenge perceptions of identity and existence. Rooted in cultural bridging, my practice transcends physical and metaphysical boundaries, inviting a deeper understanding of the self within the world.
